Last summer, the Aspen Institute hosted a seminar titled Identity in the Age of Cloud Computing. Participants at that meeting floated the idea of a user-controlled identity system that would allow individuals to manage information about themselves in the computing cloud. Such a system would allow individuals to dole out only as much information to an outsider as is necessary.
