Their leaders consciously shape the companies’ vision, policies, and operations to address broader societal needs while building shareholder value. We refer to them as “conscious capitalists,” who adhere closely to two core principles: 1. Companies should operate with a clear purpose that transcends profits; and 2. Companies can best serve stockholders by jointly addressing the needs of all stakeholders.
