EDDIE LAMPERT
Eddie Lampert is one of the most closely watched hedge-fund managers. He grabbed national attention when his fund, ESL Investments, acquired Kmart and brought it out of bankruptcy in 2003 as a public company. He then leveraged his flying Kmart shares to buy Sears Roebuck in 2005. Now Lampert is struggling with Sears/Kmart combination as the retailers have been hit by the slowing economy. His fund posted its worst performance ever in 2007.
