In 2008, the SunAmerica and KB Home founder and his wife made a $400 million commitment to endow the Cambridge, Mass.-based Broad Institute, making permanent a leading genomics and biomedical research institute. Together with The Broad Art Foundation, the couple’s charitable foundations represent assets of $2.5 billion. The Broads were named to BusinessWeek's 2008 list of the 50 Top American Givers.
