<summary>News has reached the PointsMan that three Relocation Service Providers in the UK are in financial difficulties.
This alarming news has been flagged up by credit checking agency ‘Credit Safe’. They report that two of the organisations involved have not filed their accounts to Companies House and are now over 1½ months overdue. The other relocation agent involved is an incredible 4½ months overdue.
Given that many relocation providers handle substantial sums for their clients, this news has to be very worrying for suppliers, staff and the clients whose money they may not be able to refund. Can you imagine the chaos for employers if their relocation provider shut up shop or went into receivership? Rent and Utility bills wouldn’t get paid, property transactions would grind to a halt; home searches, orientation tours and even household removals would be seriously affected. The impact on the assignees, HR and procurement professional could be profound and long lasting.
I only hope that companies who use Relocation Service Providers are taking action to minimise their risks by checking out their suppliers on a regular basis. I also hope that the Association of Relocation Professionals are reading their ‘Code of Conduct’ and going to take action against the transgressors to restore consumer confidence.
