EMPLOYMENT CONTRACTS
An employment contract spells out the conditions of employment, including wages, hours, and type of work. Any item not covered in the original employment contract falls under common-law rights, which means the employee owns the rights to all ideas, inventions, or discoveries, unless he was hired to specifically to develop those ideas. If the idea is an incident of employment, the rights still belong to the employee, except when specified in the employment contract.
