Damages Actions For Reach of EC Antitrust Laws

Europe needs to make it easier for victims of cartels to be compensated, says a 2008 white paper issued by the European Commission. That requires removal of barriers to private lawsuits, increasing access to evidence, and allowing multiple claimants to band together in a single case. But the EC has also made clear that it does not want to open the door to American-style class actions.
