HUMAN RIGHTS
The business and human rights debate is increasing in intensity. Privatization of public functions, as well as the global nature of corporate activity, leave human rights subject to impact. In domestic and international fora, the corporate responsibility to respect human rights is being developed. Such a respect includes conducting due diligence, building accountability and grievance mechanisms and ensuring that corporate disclosures consider social as well as financial criteria.
Business leaders recognize the importance of such considerations, and are working actively with governments and human rights groups to develop a set of understandings pertaining to business activity and human rights. The debate needs more voices and perspectives.
