Is Lowe's in denial about the economy?

As I watch all of this as a former employee at Lowe's and The Home Depot, it concerns me that Larry Stone and Robert Niblock seem to think things are not that bad. If Best Buy is offering severance buyouts to their entire Corporate staff (4000 people), why are the Executives in Mooresville still living the lifestyles of the rich and famous?
