Materials science is an area of growth for products requiring performance improvements that conventional science cannot provide. An example of this is a thin film coating used to provide molecular level performance in mission critical applications. The major companies in this sector are Entegris, Dow Chemical, Rohm and Haas, and DuPont, among others.
