The legal price for a tune on an iPhone could drop to a dime in no time, thanks to the wonders of cloud computing. That’s if Apple approves an iPhone app from the innovative music service Lala, which the company says will happen by the end of the year.
The pending app is the third big announcement for the company this week.
Lala made a big splash yesterday, after news of an upcoming Google music search tool that will link to its service leaked to the web. That initiative is part of Lala’s overall strategy to integrate its service into a number of websites, including Facebook, Pitchfork, Billboard, CMJ and The Onion, where users can listen to any of Lala’s 8.5 million tracks for free — once. After that, they can spend a dime for the perpetual right to listen to a streaming version. If you decide you want a copy of your own, the 10 cents counts as a credit toward an MP3 download priced about a dollar.

I recently read an article about Los Angeles residents who were hosting porn shoots in their lavish homes to make up for the hits they took from the floundering economy. Depending on how you feel about hardcore pornography, that seems like a reasonable way to make a few extra dollars. Who would've thought that a record label would come to the same conclusion? Hipster Runoff, of all blogs, found this video of what looks like alt-porn being filmed in the offices of record label Dim Mak, which is run by DJ Steve Aoki. Really, there's no proof that this is Dim Mak, there's only the signs that are posted everywhere in the video and the t-shirt of the video's male lead, but it definitely looks like the warehouse of a record label. Watch the video (absolutely NSFW, as this is straight-up, no frills, hardcore pornography, the kind our forefathers dreamed of) at The Daily Swarm.
