Contributes to the development of the corporate business direction and decision making related to enterprise business strategies, plans, processes, and policies. Company has grown from $10M to $140M during tenure and is considered the dominant market leader in corporate sales tax software and services. Vertex was voted the "Best Place to Work" in Pennsylvania in 2001.

Strategy - In late 1990s was part of market strategy development team that defined technology platform, consulting services, and vertical solutions direction that is driving Vertex's growth today. Led major rebranding effort launched in 2003 in support of new business direction and a brand refresh in 2008 in support of new markets for Vertex.

Communications - Developed communications and public affairs department from ground up at Vertex. Responsible for branding, marketing communications, corporate communications, government relations, and community relations. Manages 10 full-time employees plus an advertising agency, two PR firms (US/UK based) and a pool of free lance writers and communications professionals. Received Ad Q Advertising Award and Rebrand 100 Award.

1985-1992

Public Relations - Managed major PR accounts including Rohm and Haas, Blue Cross, NFL Films, Rouse & Associates, Johnson Matthey, and ICI Americas. Recipient of Rohm and Hass Total Quality Leadership Award for ground breaking work on Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute. Managed crisis communications for Johnson Matthey, including largest chemical fire in New Hampshire history, a West Deptford, NJ plant fire, and a Chapter 11 filing by St. Joseph's Hospital in North Philadelphia.

1982 -1985

Journalism - Editor of weekly newspaper in Salem, VA. Winner of multiple Virginia Press Association Awards. Circulation increased by 20% during tenure.
