KEN MAKOVSKY
Ken Makovsky founded Makovsky + Company in 1979. It has been recognized as “PR Agency of the Year,” “Multispecialist Agency of the Year,” “Midsize PR Agency of the Year” and “Best Place to Work.” Winner of the John W. Hill Award, the highest honor bestowed by the New York chapter of PRSA, Ken was named “Communications Professional of the Year” and “Public Relations Agency Professional of the Year” last year, and has been named “PR Blogger of the Year” the past three years.
Ken contributes intellectual capital to the industry in his blog and in speeches, seminars and interviews and donates time to a variety of human rights, higher education and economic development causes. In addition to pioneering the concept of specialization, Ken introduced one of the industry’s first quality programs, co-founded the Council of Public Relations Firms and is a Trustee and Co-Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Public Relations. Ken is also a member of the Arthur W. Page Society, on the Board of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce--NY, and on the Advisory Board of PR News.
Ken's articles on public relations have been published in professional journals and he has lectured before universities, associations and international corporations. His blog, "My Three Cents," is carried by Forbes.com, Bulldog Reporter and BusinessWeek Platform. Since 2006, Ken has written over 500 blogs.
