MATTHEW HAYLES
I am a young, wired, entrepreneurial Canadian, interested in marketing-communications and media. In 2015 I would like to begin publishing my own magazine.
In 2009 I worked as an advertising sales executive and writer for Business World Corporation, a small publishing house in Tokyo. I wrote for Tokyo Art Beat during the same period.
In Toronto I was an intern in the Public Affairs and Communications Department at The Hospital for Sick Children in the six months up to April 2009. I was a staff writer for blogTO during the same period.
In 2008, I ran the most successful student referendum campaign in the history of the University of British Columbia, in terms of turnout and approval rating.
In 2006 I was in charge of promoting turnout for the student election at the University of British Columbia, achieving the second-highest turnout in history.
I wrote for, edited, and produced video content for the Ubyssey, UBC's official student paper, for five years.
