RON GIES
Ron Gies recently left commercial banking to found a consulting firm (The Profit Group) focused on middle market clients. The firm specializes in margin management (pricing, sales process and customer segmentation). In addition to companies struggling in the current economy, clients will include small- and mid-sized banks as well as private equity firms, whose customers are in need of intensive turnaround assistance.
Ron has most recently been an executive with National City bank, where he served as EVP, Director of Sales Strategy & Delivery for the Corporate Bank, as well as SVP, Retail Sales Strategy. Ron joined National City in 2006.
Prior to banking, Ron worked for McKinsey & Company. As a consultant, he focused on marketing and sales initiatives as well as operational transformations for major corporations. Much of this work involved building pricing capabilities and sales management discipline.
Ron began his career on the West Coast working with a number of investment banking boutiques, including two firms in which he was a principal. As an investment banker, he specialized in corporate and project finance. While with Gies + Hennessey, he served as interim-CEO for a middle market company, ultimately selling it to a strategic buyer. In addition to managing a turnaround, Ron has served as Chairman of the Creditors’ Committee in a $600 million Chapter 11 filing.
