What am I focused on lately? The social intranet. What if your company's intranet was more like Facebook or LinkedIn?
* Would your employees be more productive?
* Could you make decisions faster?
* Could you react to the marketplace faster?
* Could you decide faster?
In other words, what would happen if we removed the top-down hierarchical control systems that most organizations apply blindly to every situation, and just let employees share files, share research, ask questions of each other, form project teams to meet objectives, update each other with Twitter-like status notes, and use bottom-up tagging and bookmarking to organize information?
I'll be speaking at EECI (ExpressionEngine & CodeIgniter) 2009 in Holland, where I'll be showing off an open source social networking platform that a few of us are building with CodeIgniter. We plan to give it away to small businesses for free.
