RECESSION SPENDING AND INVESTING

How are the spending habits of citizens affected by the simultaneous declines in coincident measures of overall economic activity, such as employment, investment, and corporate profits combined with rising prices for almost every commodity? Could the continuing trend lead to a severe or long recession, creating an economic depression.
