In case of desperation: Ban short sellers

I took the inspiration for the title from the FT Lex column this morning.  As Lex notes:  "When in doubt, blame the shorts.  When desperate, ban the shorts."  It is almost three years since I launched this blog and I was just saying to someone yesterday that I thought that attitudes towards short selling had changed in that time span.  To be clear, some people will never be convinced...
