accountaw steel production in the US declined by 17,000 short tons or 1.6% for the second consecutive week ended January 24, 2009. Total production was 1.028 million st, down from the previous week's total of 1.045 million st, according to data reported January 26 by the Washington, D.C.-based American Iron and Steel Institute.
