UNIVERSAL DESIGN

Universal design is a philosophy/concept for creating technology that everyone can use, including people with disabilities and older people. Oftentimes, technology is created for mainstream use, then retrofitted for the disabled and aging population, which is costly and cumbersome. Universal design calls for designing a product from the ground up with accessibility and usability already built in; doing so makes good business sense and makes new technologies more socially sustainable.
