VOIP (VOICE OVER IP)
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the technology behind carrying voice (and video) over the Internet. While it is now part of mainstream telecommunications, there's still lots of excitement in this space as VoIP moves into the cellular world. New standards, like SIP and IMS, will meld voice, video, web, and chat on a single device. VoIP also means open-standards, which has and will continue to encourage innovative start-ups and a new era of mobile applications.
